Jessica’s 3rd Epilogue: Shocking Crimes, Supernatural Forces, and an FBI Agent’s Search for Hope and Justice by Robert Hilland and John Edward

Chasing Evil: Shocking Crimes, Supernatural Forces, and an FBI Agent’s Search for Hope and Justice by John Edward and Robert Hilland is a Non-Fiction, Paranormal, True Crime book that follows the career of FBI agent, Robert ‘Bob’ Hilland, as he embraces, an alternative, last resort, tool to help solve an unsolved, cold case. The tool? Famous psychic, John Edward. A skeptic by nature, Bob’s mind and beliefs are challenged when his investigation shifts in a positive direction based on John’s guidance and clues. This surprising collaboration and connection allowed the duo to work together for 20+ years to solve many crimes. This book follows their investigative stories.

I listened to this book on audio and not only was the writing style and investigative narration easy to follow and understandable, but I also absolutely loved that the authors themselves narrated this book. It added an extra layer of enjoyment, and I felt like I was right there in the room with these two men solving crimes.

Bob and John cared deeply and sought justice at every level in their cases. I remained intrigued and surprised by how much insight John was able to provide. His psychic insight was validated many times on many levels through the course of the investigations, and I loved that his work and gifts became a trusted resource and tool for the justice that these victims deserved. Sometimes having an open mind will lead us onto paths that we would not normally journey on, this story and true-crime fighting collaboration is no different.

Quick Thoughts:

  • Writing Style: Easy to follow, is understand and simple.
  • Characters: Both Bob and John are believable, authentic and I loved seeing their personal and professional relationship develop.
  • Plot Structure: Very engaging and investigative.
  • Themes: Real life cases and Law Enforcement Insights
  • Pacing and Tone: Flowed well in the beginning. I struggled a little bit in the end as some of the cases became ‘choppier’.
  • Trigger Warnings: Violence, Death & Loss

Chasing Evil is a captivating read that offers insight into the criminal investigations of several victims, their justice pursued in many different avenues, through traditional investigation and from the unconventional corners of the paranormal/physic realm. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves true-crime and following investigative narrated books, shows, or podcasts. If you are not a believer or a skeptic of paranormal and psychic abilities, this book is not for you; however, if you can read this with an open-mind, you may find yourself swayed in believing that truth can be validated from a realm that we cannot see.
